You will also need an RFC number for the following reasons:
What is a Mexican RFC number?
In Mexico, the RFC stands for 'Registro Federal de Contribuyentes'. The RFC is issued by the Mexican Tax Administration Service (Servicio de Administración Tributaria), and it is a 13-digit alphanumeric number for any physical person and a12-digit alphanumeric number for any legal person (a company) in Mexico.
All individuals or legal entities that perform or seek to perform economic activities in the country such as, paying an electric bill, must register at the Federal Taxpayer Registry (RFC, in Spanish). This will allow them to have the necessary means to fulfill its legal obligations for the payment of taxes.
Mexico’s latest version of its electronic invoicing system will become mandatory on 1st of January 2023. The RFC validation within the e-invoicing process will require matching with taxpayers’ name and ZIP code - increasing the level of required taxpayer KYC.
